Last year a friend of Quentin Blake’s (yes, THE Quentin Blake!) came up with the brilliant idea of getting 90 Australian artists to create a work each to put into a bound volume for Quentin's 90th birthday present. I was extremely flattered to be asked as one of the 90 artists to contribute a work.
As he was one of my idols growing up (Mrs. Armitage, anyone?) I of course jumped at the chance! The theme being 'birds", I was doubly invested and this little hand coloured linocut was created. The tiny size constraints were a challenge, but I really wanted to showcase our beautiful native New Holland honeyeater and stunning kangaroo paw plant for a true Aussie touch.
I feel so honoured to be included in the book, and the fact I could add a personal message too was pretty special!
I took the time to make a full edition of the work, so the remainder of the edition can be found in my online shop :)
My little honeyeater nestled in a hand-bound volume, along with the other artworks - what an honour!
